Motivation
The True Law of Attraction is About Practical Steps that Lead to Achieving Your Goals
What motivates you? What is it that spurs you on toward your goal no matter what gets in your way?
This is motivation in action and it's what makes things happen for those people that are literally motivated to make things happen in their lives!
The World in the Palm of Your Hands!
Put the world in the palm of your hands with this amazing and powerful law!
The key of effectively utilizing the Law of Attraction, which leads to motivation, is to make sure that it leads to action in your life that brings you closer to your goals and eventual success.
This sounds obvious, but why is it that most people don't seem to be able to get motivated to create the kind of life that they want?
Success Calls for a Strong Desire
The first key to success, according to Napoleon Hill, the author of the classic success book Think and Grow Rich, is to have a strong desire for whatever it is that you want.
With enough desire and emotional intensity, you will draw the object of your desire to you, through a combination of massive action on your part and feedback from the environment.
A basic tenet of the law of attraction is that the universe is a system that gives back what is put in.
Obviously, this cannot be proven scientifically, but the results are self evident. Examples abound of successful people that achieved greatness due to their beliefs and work ethics alone.
Henry Ford famously stated,
"Think you can think you can't, either way you're right."
The principle behind that simple statement is profound. Just the CHOICE to believe that you have the ability to do something, whether or not anyone else in the world believes it, is immensely powerful because it causes you to ACT as if it's true.
Henry Ford did not get past the sixth grade in school and yet he became one of the wealthiest men in the world. He didn't have advantages like rich relatives or family connections either. He simply had the BELIEF that he could carry out his idea of a mass produced car that would be inexpensive enough for the average person to afford.
All along the way people said he was crazy and that it couldn't be done. Most people would have listened to those negative voices and given up. There are literally millions of people who have overcome hardships and what may seem like long odds to reach their goals. This is proof positive that anyone else can do it too.
How I Used the Law of Attraction to Motivate Myself
I spent five years living in Vietnam where I co-founded the sports training company Saigon Sports Academy.
I can't count how many times I've been in discussions with people back home in the United States that said things like,
"I wish I could do something like that, but I can't just up and quit my job" or "You're so lucky to be able to go and do that."
Was I really?
I did in fact quit my job before I took the huge risk of upping my personal development and going half way around the world to start over.
I didn't know anyone there, had only a couple thousand bucks saved up, and had no idea what was going to happen. But I had a strong enough desire to travel to Asia and try to make it on my own, that I made it work.
Five years later, I had built and sold part of a company, been a successful English teacher, and met my wife. The reason I tell this story is because instead of employing an "I can attitude", I could have easily had the attitude that it was just too risky to quit my job, sell all of my stuff, and fly to Vietnam.
Especially since I had NO IDEA what it was going to be like living there (although I of course did some research about the country and made some preparations before going).
The Founder of Amazon.com Used the Law of Attraction
The reason I was successful is because I had a strong desire and believed that everything would work out, and it did.
I think Jeff Bezos is another great example of this principle. Before starting Amazon.com, Bezos was a hedge fund manager and made really good money. But he wasn't satisfied.
He had an idea for an online book store that he believed could be a huge success. With everyone around him telling him that he was insane, he maxed out his credit card, borrowed some money from his family, and took a HUGE risk in launching the website.
We all know the rest of this story. Belief is key to success and Bezos certainly had plenty of that!
But what if Bezos had thought, "Eh, I've got a great idea but I don't have enough money and it's just too risky?"
You've Got to Want it AND Be Willing to Earn it
The point is, without belief in yourself you'll never accomplish anything. But with strong believe in your goals or ideas, you can accomplish ANYTHING.
That doesn't mean it's going to be quick or easy. But ask yourself this question,
"How satisfying would it be to build the life of your dreams if there were no big challenges to overcome along the way?"
There's a crazy statistic that I've read in a few places that says a full 90% of lottery winners end up broke or in worse economic shape than they were in before they won the lottery! We can analyze the reasons for this forever but I think the main reason is that when wealth comes without earning it over a long period of time, it's just a shock to the system and it isn't natural.
Gandhi identified one of the seven "deadly sins" as "wealth without work." I think what he was getting at is that the joy of success, besides having money and other things that you want, is EARNING it.
The universe is a system of cause and effect and anything that we get without earning it creates an imbalance that must be corrected. This is the teaching of the Law of Attraction at work.
The good news is, that once we understand the system, we can get out whatever we want. We just have to be willing to put in the effort, and BELIEVE that we will be successful. The next article will focus on HOW to build such strong belief.
After all, if it were easy, everyone would do it!
